SMOKEFREE RULE OF THE WEEK
BUNKER UNDER MAINTENANCE
It has recently come to our attention that when ordinary maintenance is being carried out on a bunker, some green staff are telling players they may take their balls out of the bunker without penalty.
Decision 25/13 states in essence that unless the entire bunker is being renovated and a Local Rule is posted as GUR Through the Green then process is:
(a)drop the ball without penalty in the bunker as near as possible to the spot where the ball lay, but not nearer the hole, on ground which affords maximum available relief, i.e. ground which is most nearly normal, or
(b)drop the ball under penalty of one stroke behind the bunker, keeping the point where the ball lay between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped.
